HyperOS PORT for Redmi Note 10 pro/max | V1. | Android 14

The Redmi Note 10 Pro and Note 10 Pro Max are popular mid-range Android smartphones from Xiaomi’s Redmi series. They come with capable specs like a Snapdragon 732G processor, 64MP quad camera setup, and large 5020mAh batteries.

HyperOS is an open-source custom Android ROM that aims to bring stock Android features along with customizations and enhancements to devices. In this guide, I will discuss my experience in porting the latest version of HyperOS to the Redmi Note 10 Pro/Max.

Getting Sources of HyperOS PORT for Redmi Note 10 pro/max

The first step was to clone the HyperOS source code from their GitHub repository. This code is based on LineageOS which itself is built from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

After syncing the 10+ GB of sources, I imported the Redmi Note 10 Pro device tree which contains all the proprietary drivers, binaries, and configurations needed for this specific device.

Early Builds and Fixes

My initial builds failed to boot. After some trial and error, I figured out that the kernel sources were not fully compatible. I had to rebase the kernel to a newer Long Term Support (LTS) version which fixed the booting issues.

Additionally, some device-specific parameters needed tweaking within the BoardConfig.mk files before the ROM would function correctly on the hardware. Graphics, audio, sensors, etc – each component required minor fixes.

New Features

With the base builds now stable, I could start enabling some HyperOS-specific features:

  • Three different UI themes
  • Customizable quick settings panel with more tiles
  • Enhanced privacy tools and permissions management
  • Built-in root access and busy box
  • Custom button mapping and gestures

I also enabled camera2API for better camera quality within third-party apps. The quad 64MP cameras now fully function the same as on MIUI.

It took many weeks of troubleshooting but I’m excited to have HyperOS working flawlessly on my Redmi Note 10 Pro. Performance is great thanks to the optimization of stock Android and custom kernels. The theming engine and UI customizations also make the device feel new again.

I hope this port will be useful to other developers and allow more custom ROM options for Note 10 Pro users. I plan to continue maintaining my build and adding new features in future updates!
